Do you think I could use a BFG GeForce 9800 GTX Video Card on my PC?

I want to buy a BFG GeForce 9800 GTX Video Card - 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV but i`m not sure it works on my pc...

System Rating: 5.0

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz 2.13GHz

RAM: 2046MB

System Type:64-Bit OS

Motherboard: ASUSTek

Model: Basswood

Version: 1.05

Really need help:D|||Yes you could. Make sure you have a power supply with at least 500 watts.|||hi mate

yes no problem, the Asus P5BW-LA (basswood) supports one pci-express x16 slot which will happily support the BFG GeForce 9800 GTX

however theres a few other factors to remember when buying the 9800gtx

the 9800gtx requires additional power and the manufactuers state a 500watt or more psu ,however one specification the graphic card manufacturer never seem to inform you is the ampage needed on the +12v rail

the +12v rail is the main power source used to supply power to internal hardware such as graphic cards, hard drives, optical drives and modifications

however if you buy a cheap 500watt psu theres a good chance there wont be enough ampage on the 12v rail to run your card, and this will mean your card wont have enough power to work and your pc wont boot

so when looking for a sufficent psu look at the +12v reading, there may be 2 +12v readings and this is known as dual 12v rail, and some even have 3 or 4 12v rails

however if theres more look for the maximum +12v ampage, and this should be between 25A and 35A,any lower its no good, allthough you could get away with a 20A but we are talking borderline

also when looking for a psu to run a powerful graphic card allways go with branded models, makes such as enermax, seasonic and hiper are all excellent makes

also before fitting the card ensure the bios has been edited to support the new card, make sure you have disabled the onboard video, however most new motherboard will do this automatically when a pci-express card is fitted

and also since the 9800gtx is quite large make sure the card will fit in the case

any problems let me know

good luck mate ! |||this is your board

One PCI Express x16 graphics is the important bit so yes it will take that card, but 1 or major problem is if your power supply is strong enough to take it. and has the rigtht connectors|||Power Requirements

9800 GTX models

Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply

(minimum +12 Volt current rating of 24 amps)

Two available 6-pin PCI Express power dongles

The card is 10.5 inches long and doesn't fit in some PC cases.

|||Need to know what motherboard you have. You'll need one with pcie and also you'll need a good psu. Check the requirements for that card.
