Considering the fact that my Computers Motherboard has only Regular PCI Interface connections, its hard to find the right type of video card to buy and work for games that I want to play, such as:
The Sims 2; Civilization 4; Age of Empires 3 and among others and their expansions.
Here's what I narrowed down my search to:
A GeForce 8400 GS with 512MB of Video Memory.
Can someone help me out with this?
And someone who has actually USED this card with The Sims 2, Civ 4, etc,. on medium settings? (I'm not asking for a powerhouse PCI video card, but its the only thing I got to work with)
How are the Frame Rates? Visuals? I heard that 5100 or something had better frame rates. Is this true?
And, if it is, can you direct me to a better regular PCI Video Card that would run the basic games I want with no noticeable lag?
Thank you,
Union
P.S. Link to the 8400 GS http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0298083|||If your mobo has a PCI-E slot then you can use it.
However, it won't run many games well beyond low settings. The Sims 2 and Civ 4 are relatively light and should be manageable on this card.
By the way, a "5100" does not exist for ATI nor Nvidia that is in the range of this 8400GS (which is a low-end card).
You won't run games suhc as CoD or Crysis though.
Good luck!|||www.systemrequirementslab.com Will scan your pc, and then you pick a game from the list, it will tell you if you can play it or not. If you can't it will direct you to some products that will help you.|||it's a good card it will be able to play all of the games that u are saying i say go for it great price and great proformence but before u order make sure that your power supply is 300 watt and that the card acualy works.|||I don't think this card would work, if it were to it wouldn't work very well.
I would suggest upgrading your motherboard or just getting a new computer to fix these problems. B/C if all you have is PCI that must be a pretty old Comp.
