I'm going to be building a computer soon, and I've already found a pretty good deal from tigerdirect that comes with a nice dual core AMD processor, 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, a solid mobo, and a 450W PSU and case. I decided I didn't want the onboard graphics, so I started looking around for cards. I eventually decided I wanted an ATI 4850 or 4870, depending on how much I was willing to spend. Did some research, and turns out this card has problems running WoW with good frame rate in places like Dalaran.
So I'm asking if anybody knows some good video cards that are at or under $200 that can run WoW with good fps during 25 mans or while in Dalaran? PCI-e.|||if you dont want ATI then get a GTX 260 or a GTX 280. make sure that you get a PSU rated to run either...

Looking for a new Video card for the pc?
I want to get a better video card for this computer. Its an hp pavilion p6310f, and has a 256 MB video card. I play World Of Warcraft alot and have been having horrible frame rate issues, so Im betting that I don't have enough MB's to support everything on the computer plus WOW efficiently. My question is what kind of card would any of you recommend and will my power supply be able to handle it? I prefer to stay with Nvidia GeForce...|||Ok, I'll start off by saying that your bet is a losing bet. First of all, you don't have a video card you have the nVidia GeForce 9100 on-board video chipset with 256MB of RAM allocated from your UDMA (main system memory bank). Secondly, World of Warcraft requires a minimum of 32MB of video ram with a recommended amount of 128MB. You're already at double that so the RAM is not an issue. The issue is that on-board video is not really designed for gaming. It can game but as you know, frame rates will suck. I'll give you some choices here because you haven't specified a budget. Also, keep in mind that it makes no difference whatsoever whether you get nVidia or ATi so just get the one that gives you the best performance and features for the money. The rest is pure semantics and worthless.
I'll start by using the Passmark score and ranking of what you have:
nVidia GeForce 9100
Passmark Score: 101
Passmark Rank: 583rd in the world
This is what I recommend you get:
ATi Radeon HD 4550 512MB: $45 (-$15 mail-in-rebate=$30)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…
Passmark Score: 357
Passmark Rank: 216th in the world
This has 3.5x the power of your 9100 and would deliver perfectly good framerates in WoW. On the other hand, if you're bound and determined to spend extra money just to get a vidcard that's green..
nVidia GeForce GT 220: $60 (-$20 mail-in-rebate)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…
Passmark Score: 460
Passmark Rank: 168th in the world
It's a price increase of 33% for a performance increase of 28%. That's actually a good price/performance ratio, almost matching that of the Radeon HD 4550. Either card will work perfectly so it's up to you. Just pop em in and away you go! Hope this helps you out! :-)

I have a 400w psu and my video card is killing it i have another 430w psu i plan on using but only has 20 pin?
I believe my video card is overheating because of my crappy 400w psu now i just happen to have another psu laying around its a 430w im wondering if i install it will it be better then the one i already am using? A computer guy at a place had said when i asked him if i would be better off using a 430w or a 400 the 400w has 24 pin connector and the 430 only has a 20 pin now the guy states i cant run the 430 because the 400w 24pin gives more power to the board. Now what he doesnt know is my comp came with a 365w psu originally was only a 20 pin and had a celeron d running the 4 pin connector that was next to the cpu wasnt even plugged in. When i added a p4 ht 631 i had plugged in the 4 pin next to the processor because i had seen it plugged in on a 478 genuine p4 so i figured reg p4's needed this extra power plugg. Anyways i added the 400w to replace stock after i picked up a new video card now i had 24 pins connected and a 4 pin on the board next to the chip plugged in. The only thing is the cpu power rating for my newer p4 chip is slighty lower then the celeron d uses less volts too. I dont see why the 430w psu wont work fine. I mean i havent done anything but add a video card . the first one i added was when i had a stock 365w psu that was only a 20pin and the 4 pin next to the chip wasnt plugged in and everything ran smooth. The plugs on the 430w seem to have more nuts put out a couple extra amps. I have recently noticed the connector going from my gfx card to the psu connector looked brown sorta burnt the yellow wire did and that cant be good|||Most motherboards support both 20 and 24 pin power supplies.
I would increase to in the 500 watt range and with 24 pins, there some power supply have 4 pin socket which sides on the end of 20 pin socket. You still have 4 pin 12 volt which plugs in socket near the CPU. Make sure the power supply have correct socket for your video card.
The yellow wire is 12 volts and some reason your video is drawing heavy amounts of amps. Check your video card for blown caps or resistors.|||Your video card would not overheat due to a weak PSU.
But if the PSU is supplying the wrong voltage, or voltage spikes you can see issues like the browning connectors and such.
You should go and purchase a quality PSU that is rated more around 500Watts. The jump from 400 to 430 will not help much unless the 430 Watt PSU is of higher quality.|||If the card is overheating it's due to inadequate cooling. The 430W couldn't hurt but you do need a pin ATX connector for a S775 motherboard.
You didn't mention what card you're using

Video Card For Machinima Director?
Okay, I know Laptops probably aren't the best for Machinima Making, but all I'm using is Frapps and Halo One, So I don't think it's that big a load... But my computer still only runs at like, 9 f/ps while running frapps! What video cards could I get to improve the Frames per second rate? IF the video card isn't the issue then here are my Computers Specs, tell me what I should get?

Which Video Card card should I get?
See, I was looking around on the internet when I found what I thought to be a very nice video card on eBay. It is a VisionTek Xtasy Radeon X1300 for PCI: http://cgi.ebay.com/VisionTek-ATI-RADEON…
I thought it was a very nice video card, seeing that it had 256mb of DDR2 memory, and the reviews on CircuitCity.com were good, too. However, when I went onto CNET reviews, it said that it wasn't good for gaming. Now, on the other hand, It's supposed to be able to run games like Doom 3 and Battlefield 2 at high resolutions and detail with a good FPS rating. CNET says it is mediocre, even with a low end card. Or should I just go for an Radeon 9250 with 256mb of memory, or something from nVidia? Really, I want something that will run Vista with a rating higher than 3 and run Battlefield 2 really well.
Radeon X1300 256mb DDR2
Radeon 9250 256mb
nVidia same/better (with good price or on ebay)|||Well that is the best card you can get for PCI, so that is really your only option. The 9250 is a big step down from the x1300. This card is not a high end card, but there is no PCI card made that will run Battlefield 2 on the highest settings, so this is your best bet until you get a new computer.|||i have a 7800gt pci express Nvidia card and it is awesome for gaming, it runs fear, oblivion etc... with no problems, and its not that expensive newegg.com|||If youre a serious gamer you might want to consider a card with at least 256 megs and pixel shader architecture. Some of the newer games require this feature. If money isnt an object, go for 512 megs of ram. This should keep you game happy for a couple years at least.

Can I updated the video card in my laptop?
It's an Acer Aspire 5516-5063. It has an ATI Radeon Xpress 1200 Graphics card. Which is kinda weak. Also does anyone know what kind of frame rates I should expect in Dal or Wintersgrasp?|||No
VIDEO CARD UPGRADE HELP?
i have a mobile intel 945GM express chipset video card in my dell E1705. i have heard from prople that the chip is intgrated into the motheboad and cannot be replaced, dell says this: "The Mobile Intel® 945GM Express chipset enables up to 25% higher data transfer rate compared to the previous generation bus speed. Additionally, it features PCI Express* x16 graphics ports and PCI Express x1 I/O ports, next generation Serial ATA, and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity." does this mean that i can upgrade it?|||You should be able to upgrade the graphics to the PCIEx16 slot card type. But instead of wasting your time on here, just call Dell. I say this because Dell is notorious for making products that have to be upgraded through their parts only. A laptop graphics card is going to be expensive, I'm sure, so I would just get with Dell in the first place to make sure you get the perfect one for your laptop... This answer isn't to sound snooty, only to help you save some money down the road... The link below is on the Dell website for analyzing your laptop and seeing any upgrades that is available for it...|||Go to Device manager and check for is there any updates for your video card,,or Go to windows update ( go to control panel , you can see windows update option on left-side ) go for custom installation of windowsu-pdate and check for any updates for hardwares.. and install them ,, sometimes this method will works better
AndhraYouth|||PCI express x16 is used for video cards.... I don't know how it could fit in your laptop though!
JK, you should be able to plug a mobile video card right in there.
