When I first starting playing World of Warcraft, my computer ran the game OK. My frame rate was running about 12 fps which was tolerably. With the Burning Crusade and now the Wrath of the Lich King my frame sunk down to 3 to 6 fps. I updated my video card and increase my RAM to 1.5 GB. But I haven't seen a change in my frame rate. Even when I turn down the graphics to the lowest setting.
Have a missed a step or forget to update something else?|||it may be your CPU so check the requirements for that
also make sure ALL your drivers and BIOS is up to date from your manufacturers website or the manufacturer of the component
email if you need help doing this i will help you|||well u didn't say what processor u have
or the video card
and that frame rate tells me u are way short in everything vid
processor and ram --how old is ur rig and who made it|||Update the dirext driver from microsoft and also update the firmware for you players and when this has been done check in the settings of those players that has to have able the DMA=direct memory access also in those settings you can configure the speed of reading of the media high or lower.|||Stay away from updating BIOs if possible, here is a few things you can do to help.
delete all temp files, cookies and history from your browser, delete all temp files from windows folder/temp folder, delete all programs that you no longer use start/settings/control panel/ add and delete programs, download cc cleaner (free software) and clean your registry, do this periodical and finally defragment your hard drive double click my Computer/right side click c: drive/properties/tools/defragment now.
do all this in this order and you will see a big improvement in your game.
aquielisunari: you sound like a smart person but when it comes to gaming I think I'm 1 step ahead of you, gaming does a big number on computer registry and a clean up is always a must, the other stuff does help a bit too specially when you have a lot of programs that you never use just taking the resources away from the pc, the rest does help a bit as well|||you may not have looked at the fine print on the card. Lets say you upgraded from the 7900GS to the 8600 which of course plays all those dx10 games. If that change is made the only thing that is going to change is the fact that you can play dx10 games. The downside. you will go from a 256mb memory interface to the slower 128mb interface of the 8600. also take into consideration the 42.2 GBs bandwidth of the 7900 and the 32.GBs of the 8600. that's with the 7900 being clocked at 1320ghz and the 8600 clocked at 2.0ghz. you also have less pixel shaders with the 8600 i think 12 with 20-24 with the 7900. Do some research before you upgrade anything. learn to understand and take advantage of the small technical print. they can both boast about DDR3 memory but what lies beneath the surface. The bottleneck is either in your GPU or in your CPU. 1.5GIGs of memory is ok not great. I would have at least 2-3GIGs when plaing games.
unfortunately the answer above mine will have an affect on surfing ther internet but will only have a minor effect on your game with the defragmenting only having a neglible effect.
