Which is more important in a video card - bit rate or RAM?

Say you've got an 8500 chip on a card with 256 MB RAM and a 64-bit rate. Will the performance improve more by upping to 512 MB RAM or by upping to 128-bit?

Also, which would require more additional power?|||both are but bit rate is more. ram is very useful if ure a gamer who plays at the higher widescreen resolutions ( i.e 1680x1050 or 1920x1200) if ure playing at those settings i suggest u look for a card with higer ram such as 512 mb of GDDR3 and atleast a 128 bit card|||both are important, but i guess to answer your question, the RAM is "more" important.

it all depends on what the card is doing/can do. you can have a 512 mb 128 bit card use just as much power as a 1 gb card. theres no set-in-stone answer for that.|||It really depends on the specific card itself.

On the 8500, the memory interface type (bits) would be more important, since the 8500 core is too weak to utilize more than 256MB of memory anyways.
