My brother recently gave me his old video card (graphics card) when he purchased a new one, so after I put it in my computer, and turned my computer on, it seems all bouncy, kind of like the refresh rate is really low. The cursor moves very slowly across screen, not smoothly. Just jumps from one place to another. Thing is it should be better than mine, because mine is just an onboard video card. I've tried going in to change the refresh rate, but there are no options for it. What could the problem be? Could it be that I need to download the driver? I downloaded one and tried to install but it said it wasn't made for this computer. My computer is a Compaq, and my brother's is a Sony. So does that mean I can't use the card on my computer.
Any help is appreciated,
Matt|||its ok man
there is nothing wrong with your pc
we use drivers for our operating sys not for computer brand
i think u have to install your vga driver of currunt operating sys.e.g if u r using xp then your have to download driver of your vga card for windows xp .
if you r trying to install windows 2000 or 98 driver in your xp operating sys it does not support and problem still remains|||That is an ATI X300 card go here, select your operating system and run, install.
If you have onboard video and install a AGP or PCIE X16 the bios will see the added card.
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html|||There are lots of problems from yours, the first thing I've though that you've forgotten to set up which one will be the primary video card cause conflicting? The on board integrated or the old one?
To install your brother's video card(the old one), you should disable the on board video card first. To do so, go CMOS Bios Rom page by pressing "Del" key while your pc's restarting (when "Press DeL to set up" option appears), go graphic options and select disable on board video card option.
Your pc will chooses the old one as the primary device.
Unless the old one is corrupted or your main board is too old or the old one has been conflicted with other devices or the problem comes from old OS...you will solve off it, I think. Tell me more about your pc configurations|||yes you have to install the right driver. try to find the cd installer of your video card or download it. find the name and model of your video card and download it to the mfg site.
