Hi, I just built a new computer. I haven't done this in a few years. It's a Quad Core with a PCI video card (GeForce 6200 PNY, 256MB). The video card was about $100 new. I expected it to be a DECENT video card.
When I updated the video card drivers, I ran the Win Vista Ratings. It gave the processor a 5.9 (six is the highest possible rating). The video card scored 2.7 in graphics!!!! 3.0 in 3d graphics, but that still sucks. Those are the kind of numbers I expect from onboard graphics.
Any ideas? Should I replace this with a PCIe or AGP video card?|||Why did you buy a PCI card......that's an old interface you should have gone with a PCI-E x16 card, much better memory interface and is the current standard. Here's a guide on the current graphic cards to buy.

And yeah, the 6200 is pretty much just a basic video card, very little advantage over onboard, and not even as good as some onboard video cards.|||sorry dude a $100 card isn't gonna do a whole lot for ya if you want to do some serious gaming. I try to do some research on specific cards when I upgrade and usually spend about $400 on a card(s). Check http://www.tomshardware.com great site for hardware information.|||this is an old card|||A lot of desktops and laptops are coming with the 6200 chip-set as their onboard graphics these days. There is no need to spend a ton of money, but if you're looking for gaming of any sort, you'll need to upgrade. I am using the HD 4850 and thought it was a good card for the money. Not bleeding edge but it does well in the value curve.|||Why on earth would you use a PCI card when you have a PCI-E slot? PCI cards suck, period. Get a new card, it probably scored high but that was from people who don't have the option to get another type of video card. Get another video card. That one can't keep up.
